Zonta hosts a human trafficking awareness event at the University of Findlay where Dr. Kim discusses the research of KRL conducted to improve services for survivors of human trafficking. Speakers included representatives of Ohio government, forensic nurses, victim advocates in the criminal justice system, and psychologists.


Dr. Jaymelee Kim of KRL attends prestigious SAR seminar

Dr. Kim’s collaborative research team is awarded prestigious SAR Research Seminar Grant and completes the seminar, moving the Ugandan research forward. A number of collaborators stationed overseas in the Netherlands, UK, and Uganda participated via zoom due to COVID travel restrictions.

UF alum to speak about ugandan national forensic dna fellowship

Former KRL undergraduate research assistant works with Ugandan forensic colleagues in the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory’s Forensic DNA Division. Ms. Baughman’s collaboration provided valuable insight into forensic capacity building in Uganda while also assisting the laboratory with their backlog of casework.


KRL Partners Receive School of advanced Research seminar grant

 

Dr. Kim and her collaborators on the Ugandan research project received a prestigious School of Advanced Research Seminar Grant. Drs. Hepner and Steadman applied for the grant which will be fulfilled in September 2021. This seminar will enable participants to finalize their findings and interpretations in collaboration with Ugandan team members and interested colleagues to develop a book manuscript, a dissemination plan for communities, and possible follow-on projects.

KRL assists in bringing human trafficking awareness to findlay, ohio

KRL, as part of the Department of Justice Sciences, co-coordinated the performance of “Lily’s Wings” for the Findlay campus and greater community as part outreach efforts.
